Habilitative Support

What Is Habilitative Support?

Habilitative Support Services are designed to help children increase their personal skills, peer interaction skills and coping skills while in the community. These can include library visits, extracurricular activities after school, socializing at the park, going to local stores and attending events and fairs. The primary focus of H.S. is to help the child become more comfortable in a social environment and interact appropriately in public places. A Habilitation Support staff will work on a variety of things such as:

  • Communication
  • Relationship Building
  • Peer Interaction
  • Safety in the Community
  • Accepting Direction & Verbal Cues

Services are provided by a Habilitative Support staff that has completed training required by the Department of Health and Welfare and participates in ongoing training.
